SIAC Shanghai Office
Shanghai, China
China is a strong contributor to SIAC's international caseload. In the recent years, Chinese parties have consistently ranked amongst our top two foreign users, and was the top foreign user for 2012 and 2014. SIAC's cases involving Chinese parties have more than quadrupled from 10 years ago. Nowadays, China-related cases make up roughly 20% of SIAC's total caseload.
In March 2016, SIAC opened its representative office in the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone.
SIAC's Shanghai office will be instrumental in promoting SIAC's international arbitration services to Chinese users. The launch of the Shanghai office underpins SIAC's steadily growing popularity amongst Chinese parties, and is an integral part of SIAC's continuous efforts to forge closer ties with Chinese companies and lawyers in the international arbitration community in China. The Shanghai office will work with Chinese arbitration commissions to promote the development of international arbitration and global best practices, by organising training workshops and networking events for arbitrators and practitioners.
