10th Anniversary Asia Pacific Regional Arbitration Group (APRAG) Conference

SIAC’s Chief Executive Officer, Ms Lim Seok Hui, spoke at the “10th Anniversary Asia Pacific Regional Arbitration Group (APRAG) Conference” held at Melbourne, Australia on 26 – 28 March 2014. Organised by the Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (ACICA), the conference programme reflected APRAG’s contributions to the arbitration sector over the past ten years and focused on future innovation and opportunities across different cultures and legal systems. In the session “The Role of the Institutions in the Region”, Ms Lim discussed SIAC’s experience with the Emergency Arbitration provisions, particularly from the two key jurisdictions, India and China. She also shared the viability and effectiveness of these provisions. Other speakers in the same session include Sarah Lancaster, Registrar, London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), Cheng-Yee Khong, Director & Counsel, ICC International Court of Arbitration, Asia Office, Chiann Bao, Secretary General, Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC), Wang Jie, Director, China International and Economic Trade Commission (CIETAC), Khory McCormick, Vice President, Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (ACICA), and Vu Anh Duong, General Secretary, Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC). Professor Michael Pryles, President of the SIAC Court of Arbitration, was also at the conference as one of the speakers for the session on “A 10 year Report Card for APRAG and Arbitration in the Region”.
