26 - 27 March 2014
SIAC’s Registrar, Ms Tan Ai Leen, spoke at the “International Conference on Commercial Arbitration in Mongolia” conference co-organized by the Ministry of Justice of Mongolia, USAID, MNCCI/MINAC, and AmCham. Held at Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia on 27 March 2014, the conference aimed to provide a forum for stakeholders to learn, share and discuss regional best arbitration practices and forge private-public sector consensus on the framework that should govern a new arbitration reform in Mongolia. Other guest speakers came from France, Georgia, and Hong Kong. In a pre-conference meeting on 26 March 2014 with representatives from the banking, construction, and mining associations as well as the MNCCI/MINAC arbitration centre, Ms Tan discussed regional and international arbitration best practices and lessons learned in terms of arbitration centres and how to encourage private sector to settle disputes through arbitration proceedings rather than the courts.
