SIAC Appoints Two New Board Members from India and China

Professor Michael Pryles, Chairman of Singapore International Arbitration Centre, is pleased to announce that Mr Nishith Desai and Ms Ariel Ye have been appointed to serve on the SIAC Board of Directors. Mr Desai and Ms Ye are leading international arbitration practitioners from India and China which are SIAC’s leading markets and their expertise will compliment the depth and breadth of experience within the SIAC Board.


Mr Desai is the founder and Managing Partner of Nishith Desai Associates, an International Law Firm with offices in Mumbai, Silicon Valley, Bangalore, Singapore and Basel.

Mr Desai’s practice encompasses an extensive range of tax, corporate and technology matters, with a strong emphasis on private equity and venture capital funds. His other areas of practice include corporate globalization, international listings, M&A transactions, international IPOs, international successions management, corporate governance, e-commerce taxation, JVs and strategic alliances, employment and human resource laws, intellectual property rights, media and entertainment laws, complex information technology and business process outsourcing transactions and social sector laws.

Mr Desai has developed expertise and carved a niche in the area of litigation and dispute resolution with a strong focus on complex cross border disputes.

Ms Ye is a seasoned litigator with more than 20 years of experience. She is currently the head of King & Wood's Cross-border Dispute Resolution Practice and a recognised expert on PRC-related dispute resolution in the Asia Pacific region.

Ms Ye is an arbitrator on the SIAC and CIETAC panels and has extensive experience in handling arbitration cases for and on behalf of international clients before CIETAC, HKIAC, ICC, and other international arbitration institutions. Her clients include multinational corporations, international financial institutions, large-scale domestic enterprises, and foreign-invested companies.

Ms Ye joined King & Wood in 2004 as a partner. Before this she worked for Clifford Chance as a consultant and she has previously worked at China Global Law Office and Beijing C & M Law Firm.

Ms Ye received her LL.B. from Peking University Law School, and holds LL.Ms from the Law School of China Academy of Social Sciences and from Harvard Law School. She was admitted to practice in PRC and New York State in 1988 and 1999, respectively.
