SINGAPORE INTERNATIONAL ARBITRATION CENTRE APPOINTS NEW DEPUTY CHAIRMAN

The Chairman of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), Professor Michael Pryles, is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Cavinder Bull SC as Deputy Chairman of the SIAC Board of Directors from 1 October 2010.

Mr Bull has served as a member of the SIAC Board of Directors since March 1st 2009.  He is a Director of Drew & Napier LLC.

Mr Bull graduated with First Class Honours in law from Oxford University. He also holds a Masters in Law from Harvard Law School which he attended on a Lee Kuan Yew Scholarship. Mr Bull is called to the Bars of Singapore, England & Wales and New York. He previously practiced law in New York where he was heavily involved in international arbitrations.  Since 1997, Mr Bull has been practicing at Drew & Napier LLC in Singapore.  He was appointed Senior Counsel in 2008 and is presently active both in international arbitrations as well as in the area of civil and commercial litigation before the Singapore Courts.

Mr Bull replaces the current Deputy Chairman, Mr Sundaresh Menon SC who will shortly be taking up a new appointment as Attorney-General of Singapore.

Mr Menon served as a Director of SIAC from 21 August 2003 to 28 February 2006.  Thereafter he was appointed Deputy Chairman.  He is widely recognized as one of the foremost experts in litigation, arbitration and construction law in Singapore and has established a worldwide reputation for excellence.  He served for a year as a Judicial Commissioner in Singapore and is presently Managing Partner of Rajah & Tann.

Mr Menon's contribution to SIAC has been outstanding.  His vision and hard work have helped to transform SIAC into one of the world's premier arbitration centres.

The Chairman and the Board express sincere thanks to Mr Menon and wish him well in his forthcoming office as Attorney-General.  The Chairman and Board are also delighted that Mr Bull has agreed to be Deputy Chairman and look forward to working with him in that important role.
